How many sixteen year olds do you know who want to develop an original musical and present it on an international stage? Our high school theater troupe has been invited and accepted to perform at the world’s largest performing arts festival, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Edinburgh, Scotland. We are the only school from New York state chosen to perform this year.
We are bringing an original musical written by our troupe about the life of Emily Warren Roebling, the woman who helped engineer and complete the Brooklyn Bridge. We hope this show not only allows us to share our talents as performers, but will help people learn about an important, pioneering figure in New York history.
In the words of one of our seniors, Ainara Hidalgo, “It is my dream to attend and represent NYC. Theater has changed my life and I believe it can educate not only our youth, but everyone.”
