We are The Drama Club NYC, a Manhattan based Not for Profit Theater company. We are about to embark on our very first full season of theater off-Broadway in New York City! The Drama Club NYC is an exciting new Theater Company with a mission to produce brand new plays and musicals by American Authors as well as fresh concepts of classic plays that have a new social relevance to modern American audiences.
Additionally, we believe that good theater should be publicly accessible. To promote this part of our mission, we have established The Drama Club NYC free ticket initiative. This initiative offers free and discounted tickets to every single piece of theater that The Drama Club NYC will produce in New York City.
Our upcoming off-Broadway season is set to include the following plays.
Columbinus by The United States Theater Project, Written by Stephen Karam and PJ Paparelli
Presenting the first Off-Broadway revival of this modern American classic. This play was sparked by the April 1999 massacre at Columbine High School in Littleton, CO. It is a meeting of fact and fiction that illuminates the realities of adolescent culture by exploring the events surrounding the shootings.
The second coming of Joan of arc by Carolyn Gage
New York Premiere with The Drama Club NYC!
In this revolutionary one woman play Joan returns to share her story with contemporary women. She tells her experiences with the highest levels of church, state, and military, and unmasks the brutal misogyny behind male institutions.
100 aker wood by Theo Wolf
Off-Broadway Premiere with The Drama Club NYC
Theo Wolf's brand new play is a darkly comedic parody that utilizes the characters we know and love from A.A. Milne's "Winnie-the-Pooh" to tell a brand new coming of age story.
An enemy of the people by Adaire Kamen
World Premiere Play specially commissioned by The Drama Club NYC!
This world premiere play was commissioned specifically for The Drama Club NYC. Inspired by Henrik Ibsen's classic, and set in the present day United States this new play delivers Ibsen's themes of Human Ambition, Corporate Greed and Government Corruption from a modern perspective.
In addition to the above mentioned works, we will also be presenting 6 developmental readings of original works by emerging authors, or newly conceived ideas for productions of classic plays by directors who will give them new perspective for today's audiences.
We hope you will become a member of The Drama Club NYC today!
