Most people outside of show-business don’t understand how much is demanded of actors. During the pandemic, auditioning for roles went away from in-person go-sees to actors taping at home on smartphones and sending them in, which really seemed great and convenient… at first. Self-Tape is a farcical comedy about an actor’s crazed experience during the audition process - and then what happens when he books the big commercial…which shoots at his house!
Logline: When an Actor’s dream becomes a living nightmare.
Impact: The silliness and pathos of the plight of the working actor is just the kind of humor audiences need right now. It resonates with all who work and strive only to be descended upon by the vandals of murphy’s law.
Where you come in: We would love to have you be a part of the process. Your generous contribution can help bring this story to life.

A WORD FROM THE WRITER!
Courtney_Bahr_HS_Bio.jpg28.01 KB Courtney Bahr, Writer/Director Knowing first-hand how difficult it can be to muster the enthusiasm to record endless self-tapes for auditions during the pandemic, I thought to myself, ‘how can I use this experience to tell a story’? And then I thought ‘How can I make this funny?’ Thus Self-Tape is a hyperbolized version of experiences shared with my husband Duncan as we faithfully recorded each other’s auditions day after day… for years. With a bit of tricky camera work and creative storytelling, we will take you inside the life of an Actor who will do anything to get a part, and anything to keep it, even after everything goes horribly wrong. It’s kind of situation that is easy to laugh at - once time and distance separates you from it!
