Kansas City-based writer-performer Sam Wright and lauded UK-based performer-director Nicholas Collett have joined forces once again to bring to the world a new folk musical based on Pride & Prejudice but placed in modern America. This full-length musical comedy seamlessly slips three brothers from East Tennessee into the shoes (now boots) of the Bennett sisters to explore how the massive divides in American culture may be bridged. Your support will help bring much-needed hilarity and a radical exercise in empathy to international audiences.
Prejudice & Pride has just been awarded the 2022 artist residency at Music Theater Heritage in Kansas City, where it will be given a full production in July. Then the entire company will travel to Scotland in August to present a full run at Edinburgh Fringe 2022.
Our funding will support:
9 actors
1 stage manager
a couple of folk musicians
mic rentals
scenery
costumes
props
lights & sound
12 flights to Scotland
1 month of accommodations
1 Edinburgh Fringe venue rental

a month's supply of haggis & scotch eggs
Collett & Wright's last collaboration, Crazy Horse: A Dream of Thunder, won a Best of Kansas City award in 2016.
