Be part of Arkadia Theatre Company's 4th Season
Join Arkadia Theatre Company fka The Chekhovians in our 4th Season.
We are a New York theatre company founded and lead by international artists who got together for a shared love of Chekhov. This season we are trying something new and are bringing to you God of Carnage, Yasmina Reza's Tony Award winning play.
What do we need the money for?
The donations will go to space rentals for rehearsals as well as our expenses for the theatre rental itself.
In the past we have worked mostly on pieces that are in the public domain. Thankfully Yasmina Reza (the writer of this genius piece) is alive and well, but that also means we have to pay for the rights to produce this play.
We will have many hands to help us and they need to be compensated.
So do our lovely actors.
Should one of our actors fall of the stage, get hurt and / or damage the stage in the process it's helpful to have insurance - yet another expense.
We want to give the public a stunning show, so set pieces, costumes and props need to be aquired - some of them are free thanks to the great resources this city provides, but there will still be things that need to be bought and ideally paid for.
As you can see, there are many things that need to be paid and that is were you come in.
Every penny counts!
Why God of Carnage
During the run of The Seagull David Silva and Emely Rachela were having an espresso in Chiavenna Italy, alongside longtime Arkadia collaborator Daniele Gianera, when a group of lovely local actors joined us and told us about a play they were working on. We were immediately hooked.
The play was God of Carnage.
Our Theatre Company started as The Chekhovians and even though we renamed to branch out, we want to stay true to some core themes in our work and the pieces we realize.
Questioning of societal norms, exposure of human behavior, challenging of socio-economic structures. All of these themes and key elements can be found in Yasmina Reza's writing.
Thank you!
Thanks to each and everyone who gives us even the smallest amount.
There is a german saying "Kleinvieh macht auch Mist" which means as much as "Every little bit counts". Go ahead and copy paste the german version into google translate.
