We use these words as a grounding point for all of our artistic choices because delightful growth walks hand-in-hand with challenging work. We find equal importance in the actions of uplifting and questioning, especially during this complicated time for the theatre.
Our values revolve around artist support, community-mindedness, and a creative spirit. We believe that an innovative approach to the art of live production is essential to our medium thriving for years to come. Whether it be putting the A (arts) back in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) education by holding workshops with our local NYC youth; reinvigorating classical language for modern audiences; or developing immersive, accessible experiences–we do it with an abundance of joy.
HOW YOUR DONATIONS WILL HELP
Your donations are critical to helping us fund our operations, events, and arts programs, with the goal of helping to make arts education more equitable and accessible in our community. Proceeds from this campaign will help us in two distinct ways:
- Launch children's theatre education classes in the NYC area- beginning with a series of workshops designed to introduce kids to the language and stories of William Shakespeare!
- This includes using funds to support scholarships for select students to join our classes and workshops!
- Continue our operations as we plan, devise, and stage new live theatrical events.We at Backyard Stages value our artists, makers, visionaries, and volunteers.
- Our people are at the heart of our nonprofit and supporting our community is our top priority!
