All donations will go towards furthering the future of this show and it's subsequent offered outreach programs (*see below). BariToned is looking at setting up a performance residency in NYC, we are looking into producing merchandise, a cast recording, and hope to use what funding is required to secure future tour dates, & marketing.
*Secondarily, BariToned offers two outreach programs -
Cancer Survivorship - Founder, Producer, and cast member Edward Miskie is a 7 year cancer survivor and published author on the subject. He offers his point of view, and sense of humor to those living with survivorship or with those who are living with survivorship. His book "Cancer, Musical Theatre, & Other Chronic Illnesses" has spoken to strangers, nurses, patients, medical staff, and family members of those living with cancer and survivorship in a way that they didn't know they needed to be spoken to - through humor and wit.
Gender Studies in Theatre - Broadway's Dan Pardo and BariToned founder Edward Miskie guide a class through the history of gender norms in theatre from Greek to Shakespearean to Edwardian eras. This class is participatory in that volunteer students are asked to learn a short scene from a classical piece of theatre, and a more contemporary piece of theatre performing the scene both as their assigned gender, and their opposite identifying gender. Another group of volunteer students are coached on a short song in musical theatre that they will get the opportunity to perform for the class/assembly with BariToned at the end of the 3-part series.
