Dear friends,
Have you ever thought to yourself: "Wow, all this about global warming and plastic pollution is really f***ed up! I feel so overwhelmed and angry. And really really sad." And then did you think: "It would be really awesome if I could make or see some art about all these tough feelings."
Well, you're in luck!
I've been making art about all this fu**ed up sh** for several years now, and I'd love for you to be a part of it!
So. I was just invited to put on a solo show in a friend's project space (this December), Don Elwing offered to take me out to Kamilo beach in February so that I can experience one of the most polluted beaches in the world firsthand and build the land artwork that I've been dreaming about for years now, and I have a studio full of materials that are just sitting here waiting to be made into art by you or me. Problem is, all of these projects will take more money than I have or can earn at my teaching gig. (For more about my expenses, please see below).
So I have one more question for you: Have you ever wondered: "Geez, I have all this money here, maybe I should share it with someone?" And maybe even: "I really hate Donald Trump and where this country is headed. Maybe I want my tax money to go elsewhere."
Well, you're in luck again my friend. Because I want your money! And, I have Fractured Atlas as a fiscal sponsor so I accept tax-deductible donations! In exchange for your dollars, I would love to trade you one of my artworks, make a new artwork for you, or have you come over to my studio and make some art with you or alongside you. Please check out the rewards section for more info on what can be in it for you.
On the fence or broke yourself? Hmmm...well, you can still help me out by sharing this campaign on social media or via email with your network of earthlings. I would really appreciate that too!
Anyway, thank you for taking the time to check out my campaign and for any support you can lend me.
With gratitude,
Basia Goszczynska
BUDGET (in order of priority):
Sourcing of microplastics for solo show in December: $600
Trip to Kamilo beach and the construction of new land artwork: $2000
New DSLR camera and lens (the camera that I purchased in 2007 and have been using for all my animation, photography and documentation bit the dust recently): $4000
Anything above my goal will be used to pay my studio rent so that I can spend more time here making new work. Thank you for your support!
