The Bay Area Vocal Academy (BAVA) provides comprehensive vocal training for talented young singers, preparing them for college/conservatory and a career in classical music.
Contributed income is essential to continuing BAVA’s mission, and to increasing need-based scholarships to increase access for all talented young singers to BAVA’s unparalleled training.
BAVA artists learn vocal repertoire and style, stagecraft and movement, score preparation/study, and some foreign language. This classical singing performance course includes Art Song, Opera, and some Musical Theater. Our expert faculty lead vocal coachings, piano coachings, and seminars on all aspects of preparing a song. The young artists work with professional guest artists from all over the world who will be their mentors and collaborators in Masterclasses and Recitals. BAVA artists receive individual advising on college/conservatory selection, help with applications, pre-screen audition video support, recommendation letters and introductions to teachers around the country, preparation for auditions and competitions, business/professional skills, and guidance in all the aspects of building a singing career.
BAVA artists present 3-5 full concerts of art song, opera, and musical theater each season, in collaboration with pianist/faculty member Dr. Margaret Halbig and guest artists from the worlds of professional opera, theater, and dance. BAVA artists also receive individual instruction in vocal performance, and stagecraft/presentation.
Artists also receive continuous college or conservatory prep support. This college prep includes advising meetings with artists and their families, help with resumes and repertoire lists, preparation of audition repertoire, pre-screen video audition production, audition prep, recommendation letters, and help with essays and overall application edits.
BAVA is a comprehensive pre-conservatory program for talented young vocal artists. We are grateful for your support in building the future of singing!
