Help Bring Frizz the Sheep to Life!
Black Sheep Contemporary is thrilled to present a joyful, family-friendly concert series featuring the world premiere of Frizz the Sheep, a charming new work for chamber ensemble and narrator. With music by Nicole DeMaio and text by author Elle Michael River, this delightful story follows Frizz, a clarinet-playing sheep who dreams of standing out from the flock. When disaster strikes and the music for The Little Lamb Band is swept away, it’s up to Frizz and his unique sound to save the day!
Each performance will also include fun and educational activities for young audience members, including coloring pages illustrated by Sofie Bettaieb. Kids can let their creativity shine by imagining Frizz in any style — will your Frizz have rainbow stripes or polka-dot wool?
Admission to all concerts is free and open to the public. The program will also feature Let’s Meet the Clarinets by Billy Novack, Thick Line by Alex Temple, a live poetry reading, and interactive instrument demonstrations designed to inspire curiosity and creativity in children and adults alike.
This project is made possible in part by the Jersey City Arts and Culture Trust Fund. We are now seeking additional support to help us reach our final fundraising goal. Contributions directly support artist fees, venue rentals, and production costs, ensuring that we can continue offering high-quality, accessible music experiences for families in our community.
Join us in bringing Frizz the Sheep to the stage — and help us make music, magic, and a little bit of mayhem!
