We're jumping into a new season, and we need your help to make it our best one yet!
A Year in Review
Coming off the heels of our previous season, we're launching the next chapter of our organization's work to champion the music of our time. Our season was centered around a series of special projects - a dance performance, The Sound of Space Between Us, at the Clark Art Institute, and a radio play, Borrowed Landscape, by the playwright duo tauchgold with music by Dai Fujikura at the Noguchi Museum and Smithsonian Museum of Asian Art. We also celebrated our ensemble's first five years with a weekend-long festival highlighting the breadth of our musicians and collaborators, which included our debut at the iconic New York venue Roulette. We also continued our work supporting the next generation of musicians and composers with residencies at the University of Florida, University of Michigan, NYU, and the Kaufman Music Center's Special Music School.
The proof of our work is in the numbers. In our last season, season, we held 16 performances, presented 11 world premieres, 6 New York premieres, and engaged 40 artists, including musicians and interdisciplinary collaborators, a testament to the scope of our artistic community.
Looking Ahead
Now, as we launch our new season, we're looking forward to even more collaboration at home in New York and around the country! Our upcoming season includes:
- A series of three New York City performances, including a US premiere by James Diaz, Unsuk Chin's Akrostichon-Wortspiel featuring soprano Amber Evans, and a sonic portrait of Julius Eastman co-curated with Isaac Jean-Francois
- A visit to the University of South Carolina for the season-opening concert of their Southern Exposure New Music Series
- A residency at the University of Chicago where we will perform and record works by graduate composition students
- A tour of North and South Carolina, inluding visits to UNC-Pembroke and the Fayetteville Technical Community College New Music Series
- A tour through Florida, including a performance at the Timucua Arts Foundation and residencies at the University of Florida and University of Central Florida
- And so much more to come!
