Join us (Carmina, Madeline, and Madison) as we embark on our ambitious new project - launching Boss Witch Productions. With Boss Witch we’ve set out to establish a sustainable, artist-driven infrastructure for the creation of experimental, site-specific work. We seek to reimagine our relationship to the world around us while leaving a minimal human footprint. Our work is driven by deep engagement with place, community, history, collaboration, craft, and imagination. We seek to lurk in nature, searching for playfulness in freedom, finding agency and power on our own terms. With Boss Witch we are leveraging our collective experience as artists, producers, and collaborators in the experimental art community to produce relevant, engaging, and polished new work.
Boss Witch launches with three projects in 2021-2022, all related to ritual, the natural world, and a subversion of social constructs: Under the Sun's Shadow (Bajo la Sombra Del Sol) by Carmina Escobar, and Vox Clamantis by Carmina Escobar and Ron Athey, and the inaugural Boss Witch Commission, a new work by Ma'ayan Tsadka and Dani Williamson. The 2021-2022 program supports a creative and production team of 22 artists. This team includes 60% artists of color, and 50% artists of underrepresented genders including cis women, transgender, and non-binary/gender nonconforming artists.
As artists ourselves, we recognize that breaking aesthetic boundaries requires significant financial and creative support. Collectively, we are skilled at providing creative support to our artists, but we need your help to raise adequate funding to pay our artists and collaborators a living wage and produce high-quality, ground-breaking work. We’ve set out to hit an ambitious goal: to raise $100,000 in donor support, grants, and sponsorships to launch Boss Witch Productions in 2021. So far, we’ve successfully raised over $24,000 in grants and we are aiming to raise another $20,000 with this fundraiser campaign. Help us hit our goal by attending our fundraiser on June 10, or donating today!
