I'm Brenda Nicole Moorer, a singer-songwriter from Atlanta and I’m recording my first jazz record entitled "The Marrow." I’ve co-written songs with pianist Kenny Banks Jr, and a band of talented musicians including Grammy nominated Nate Smith and guitarist Trevor Wolford. The album will be produced by Troy Miller (Gregory Porter, Jacob Collier, Laura Mvula, Amy Winehouse), as well as amazing keyboardist/producer Jesse Fischer (Gretchen Parlato, Takuya Kuroda, Chris Turner). This project brings together 25 artists to create the music and visuals, most of whom are local Atlanta artists.

In order for the album to become a reality, I need your support. I’m asking you to join my team and contribute. All your pledges are tax deductible to the full extent of the law, thanks to the project being fiscally sponsored through Fractured Atlas!

I would LOVE it if YOU could help turn this dream into reality and join me in creating an amazing body of work. Right now, I’m asking you to do 2 things please:

1. Contribute and pick your reward.
2. Help spread the word!!

Thank you, Thank you. Peace love and light!

about me.jpg 8.62 KB

My name is Brenda Nicole Moorer. I’m a singer-songwriter based in Atlanta, Georgia. I’m an artist and a mother. I’ve independently released two albums and one EP in the last 9 years. Fortunately, Ive amassed an awesome following of supporters and had some incredible opportunities. I was awarded the Atlanta’s Best Soul & Jazz vocalist award, graced stages alongside some jazz heavy hitters like Christian McBride, Incognito, Bernard Purdie, Booker T Jones, and Roy Ayers. Headlining the next generation stage at Atlanta Jazz Festival opened up doors for me to access larger stages, performing at notable venues like the Blue Note in New York, Rockwood Music Hall, and City Winery.
My music has garnered attention from tastemaker Gilles Peterson, DJ Jamal Ahmad, Ebony Magazine, AfroElle, Soulbounce, Singersroom, Afropunk, and Soultracks. My last album, Brand New Heart, landed a licensing deal with Japan’s P-Vine Records. Along the way, I’ve met some incredible musicians and life long friends. Writing my own compositions that are truly a reflection of my personal experiences is what I’m passionate about, and no greater joy is gained than when I can share that with a community. The project.jpg 8.11 KB

I’ll be co-writing songs with American Pianist and Composers finalist Kenny Banks Jr and jazz guitarist Trevor Wolford. The album is planned to have one song co-written with Grammy nominated Nate Smith (Kinfolk). I’ll be working with producer Troy Miller (Laura Mvula, Jacob Collier, Gregory Porter, Amy Winehouse) and producer Jesse Fischer (Gretchen Parlato, Takuya Kuroda, Chris Turner).

I’ve written a jazz album fusing folk with lush orchestral landscapes. The songs grapple with desire, insecurity, betrayal, uncomfortable spaces, self-discovery, and learning from every bruised emotion. I plan to release the first single from the album in Spring 2019, with the full album to follow shortly after.

This campaign is the sole vehicle to create this album and the visuals that go along with it. I’ve seen, lost, gained and learned a lot and want to share these songs with the world. In order to professionally record and produce the album, I need the financial support of my music community, and that includes you!!

I'm looking to raise $15,000 to fully complete and release the project properly.  What I really need is $20,000, but I’ve been able to save what I can to invest in this project and will be able to cover the remaining portion. I’ve broken the costs down for you in the little pie chart so that you know what's being spent and where. Your contributions help to pay for the project and gives work to 25 artists. Your contributions are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

For you.jpg 7.32 KB

I’m glad you asked! Art is a two way street, and this isn’t just about me creating new music. It’s about creating a community, a team, that believes in it’s artists. Where we put our dollars matter, and how much we spend on the art we consume is a testament to our belief in our community. Thanks to Fractured Atlas in New York, my entire project has been fiscally sponsored. This means that all your pledges are tax-deductible. Once you’ve made a pledge and you will receive your tax acknowledgement letter within two weeks!

You can also be rewarded for your contributions to my campaign with perks! Depending on the amount you choose to give, the rewards vary from downloads of my newest album, to complete packages including passes to my album release party, OR a fully funded house concert internationally or domestically! It’s up to you to decide what your mighty dollar is worth to you, and I give you a plethora of choices in how to ‘spend’ that contribution.

And since this project employs 25 artists to make it happen, you’ll be helping to fund the involvement of those artists as well! So, let’s do this!

purpose.jpg 9.34 KB

As an independent artist, there are no label funds, or investments falling from the sky, to fund such an expensive endeavor. Often, it takes the aid of a community of believers to step up, lean in, and show support in the very early stages of creation in order for this music to ever come to life. So, this campaign is me asking for the community to support up front. It’s my job as an artist to create and share those creations to help uplift the world. Ultimately, I need to record this album because somewhere I have to believe that there is someone who needs to hear this music, needs to hear these stories, and will grow with them just as I have.

I only have one month to reach my $15,000 goal! Scary! But, I believe it can be done!  Every single penny voices your support for what I’m trying to achieve, which is bigger than myself. I would hate for anything I do to be self serving. This is not just for me, it’s for every artist involved, it’s for you, its for the community. For real, I mean that.

If it's not possible to financially contribute towards my campaign, it's cool. That being said, there are some things you can do that would make a huge difference and don't cost a thing.

It would be AMAZING if you could share my video or campaign through your social media or have a your to your auntie, uncle, dad, boss, girlfriend, bartender, neighbor....you never know who's going to want to help turn this dream into reality.

Also, if you’re not interested in my particular campaign, I encourage you to find an artist who does move you to your soul and act in some way to support them. The world simply needs more creative energy! And our artists need their communities, it’s a two way street. Let’s make it a movement!

Big love to each and every one of you! I’ll see you on the other side!

Love you dearly,

Brenda~
