For a writer, going on retreat can open up so many possibilities. Being away from home, leaving (temporarily) the day-to-day demands of our lives and being able to focus exclusively on writing and craft is a magical experience. But unfortunately, doing so requires expense, something that many writers cannot afford to take on.

Having run international retreats for the past three years, we at Chestnut Review know how powerful and transformative they can be. We've seen our participants dive into a week of collaboration, mutual support, and intensive writing and workshopping, emerging rejuvenated and inspired as they return home. We'd like to enable that experience for as many writers as possible.

To that end, Chestnut Review is fundraising for $1000 to provide a scholarship to help support a writer who has barriers to participating in our international retreat. We hope that this may make our retreats possible for more writers, and we are committed to doing so as much as we can. If we raise more than our base target of $1000, then we will distribute additionally to one or more writers to help defray the costs. Scholarship applications for these funds will open in January.
