Heat Lightning is the premiere performance of Contretemps Contemporary Ballet, created by Director MaryAnn McGovern. Heat Lightning is an alternative outdoor performance that illuminates the problematic nature of post-truthism. A dance within an installation, Heat Lightning weaves together visual metaphors for a world whose fate hangs in the balance. The movement vocabulary will demonstrate the physical sensations that arise when we reflect on living in post-truth America.
Due to Covid restrictions and in order to provide a safe and welcoming performance space, the work will be set in the parking lot of the Drucker Center in Lincoln Park. Performances are August 14, 21, and 28 at 8PM.
