This September, Crashbox Theater Company is launching our newest program, The Playwright Sponsorship, with a workshop production of Hollis Beck’s TINKER RISING.
The Playwright Sponsorship was created in response to playwrights’ desires for more opportunity to bridge the gap between a reading and a full production. This September, after receiving a generous space grant from The Tank, we will be curating a specialized rehearsal process and public workshop performance of Tinker Rising by Hollis Beck. Tinker Rising came to us through last year’s Read. Play. Write. reading series and we immediately fell in love with this play, its characters, and the world that Hollis has created.
As we hosted our initial production meetings and learned more about what this play wants to be and how to best serve its development, we discovered that the world of Tinker Rising was rich and would benefit from fully realizing key moments of the piece in a workshop production at the Tank this September.
As the needs of the development have grown from our initial offering, we are asking for additional support that will go directly towards increasing artist pay and realizing production design more fully.
Thank you so much for all of your support and mark your calendars, as we are excited to share with you a public workshop performance of TINKER RISING on
Sunday, September 16 at 3 pm at the Tank!
