Our goal is to raise $20,000 by the end of 2023 to help us support the amazing, funny folks that are preparing to share their talents with Philly audiences this fall. We have a bunch of wonderful shows and workshops scheduled from local, national, and international comedy favorites and legends.
Your tax deductible contributions will help us provide additional programming support including, but not limited to: production and directorial support, mentoring to emerging artists, rehearsal space to underserved artists and acts, offset venue rental costs, and hire/train temporary staff to support the two week festival. Some support will also be directed to our recently announced Crossroads Scholarship, which aims to provide opportunities to expand the reach and accessibility of our comedy arts education programs for our Fall 2023 sessions.
Benefits:
- Help us support over 40 different independent artists and acts
- Provide rehearsal space and directorial support to emerging artists and acts
- Subsidize costs to allow Crossroads to extend free tickets to the community to every show and host multiple performances at no cost to the community
- Support educational opportunities through the festival and through our scholarship program that foster creativity, build confidence, improve communication, invite collaboration, encourage positivity, and generally provide opportunities to share joy and comedy.
We are excited to announce that Crossroads Comedy Theater is pursuing 5013c Non-profit status. We believe that this formation more closely aligns with and will help us achieve our goals as a theatre company and how we can better serve the arts community in Philadelphia. This is a fairly long process and we have various efforts coming up that need your support. We have been granted fiscal sponsorship through Fractured Atlas. This allows us to collect tax deductible donations as we await our official non-profit designation.
Crossroads Comedy Theater is a Philadelphia based comedy performance and education center. We have trained over 500 students in longform improv, musical improv, stand-up, and comedy writing since 2021. We have produced over 360 hours of original comedy performances on Philadelphia stages since June 2021 as well as dozens of hours of online only content including streaming shows and podcasts. We are one of a handful of comedy theaters in the country that compensates its performers and have paid out nearly $75,000 to local performers, teaching artists, staff, and venue operators. We are looking forward to continuing to support the Philly comedy community through our two weeks of performances and educational opportunities during the 2023 Fringe Festival.
