“[Participating this] weekend and meeting so many DMV and visiting artists was incredibly inspiring…it really affirmed for me that moving to the DMV was an important step for my growth as an artist and for my future.”
“Usually, I either get the personal investment or the funds, but never both, so I want to just reiterate my gratitude to you [and DC Dance Network] on this process. Thank you again.”
It is these first-hand testimonials that have truly been driving and pushing DC Dance Network to keep going!
Over the last few months, we have been busy building connections, checking in with community members and finding ways to strengthen our network. And everything we’ve been able to accomplish has been thanks to those of you who joined us and offered your support!
- In early April, we hosted a house party fundraiser in support of Brendan Drake’s Ceremonials complete with an intimate and vulnerable live preview of the work.
- At the end of the month, we debuted our NEXUS NIGHTS social series, growing and strengthening our community ties at Orange Grove’s LIMINAL FILM FESTIVAL.
- And at the end of that festival, we sponsored and awarded the first "Momentum Award" to Makayla Allman, offering financial and capacity building support in celebration of her debut short film WithIN Me.
But the year is only half over, and we need $3,500 to get us through our remaining commitments in 2026! That’s why I’m coming back to you to ask for your help one more time.
$3,500 sounds weirdly specific, I know. But here’s a breakdown if you’re curious to see exactly what your donations will fund. That’s:
- $1500 for a lighting designer
- $540 to cover the hourly wage for a stage manager
- $400 going towards photography and video to document our collaborations professionally
- $200 to underwrite two VIP tickets to an upcoming benefit performance
- $304 to cover studio space-usage costs for a project yet to be announced…but coming soon
- And a monthly continuing cost of $79.47 which covers the bills to keep our LLC running
Can you pitch in to help us reach our $3,500 goal? OH! And we’re newly fiscally sponsored, so your donations are now tax deductible!!
Once you've donated, get your ticket to see your financial impact on stage. The fruits of this labor will be live at Dance Place in Brendan Drake’s Ceremonials July 10th and 11th. DMV artists will be onstage, backstage, in the box office, selling merch, and scanning your tickets.
Your dollars making a visible impact. And you receiving a raucous, ecstatic, resplendent piece of live art as a thank you in return.
See you there?
