In Search of Elaina opens on Annette, living comfortably in her city life. When she learns that an old, dear friend has passed away, someone from the youth she worked hard to leave behind, a haunting regret is reignited. This drives Annette to travel home and face what she has worked so hard to bury. Past and present collide as Annette is pulled apart by who she is trying to be and who she undeniably once was. Friends and family reunite, reliving old times, traversing grief, and somehow finding their way forward.

This production, produced by Drift In Act Out (DIAO), will premiere in the Players Theatre's black box space September 5 - 22, 2024. This is real, live, downtown theater and cannot happen without support. We are asking you to donate what you can to help fund our production.

Your donations will help us with so many theatrical elements! They will help offer stipends to our cast and creative team, reimbursing them for their time, hard work, and talents. Our team includes a cast of SEVEN AMAZING ACTORS, our talented director, and our dedicated design and production team including a set designer, lighting designer, sound designer, costume designer, and stage manager. Donations will help us purchase costumes to build our characters, and will help us acquire our set pieces and props that help us create the world of the play. From an apartment in New York City to the redwood tree forests of California's Santa Cruz Mountains, from a secluded mountain home with an active fire pit to a small town mechanic's shop featuring a totaled car, we are creating physical spaces and elements that pull audiences into our story.  Of course, all plays need rehearsal, and donations will assist in paying for rehearsal space as our actors spend the month of August learning and developing their performances. Each of these elements is essential in bringing our story to life, and your donations help us get there.

This will be Drift In Act Out's third full length production, after producing two plays in the NYCFringe Festival. Additionally, DIAO has produced two theatrical festivals bringing a number of new short plays and musicals to life. Drift In Act Out strives to serve as a medium of artistic growth and expression for artists, and is thrilled to bring you its next production, In Search of Elaina. We invite you to join us on this journey.
