Ever wanted to be part of the creation of a musical performance? Well, this is your chance to help bring to life a new show, created and performed by the collaborating artists of ePOP!

Love Notes 2.0... Sour Notes is the sequel to Love Notes, which premiered virtually last year.

Last year's show was all about sweet, sweet love.

This year, it's a little different.

This year, it's about the "other" side of love. All the songs will be raunchy, sad, angry, uber sexy, or about breaking up... you get the idea!

There will be 2 iterations of Love Notes 2.0... Sour Notes:

Streaming: We will release a virtual version of the show much like we did last year, featuring both local and guest artists. Artists for the virtual event include countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo, mezzo-soprano Sandra Piques Eddy, soprano Joélle Harvey & artist manager Alex Fletcher, bass Zachary James, mezzo-soprano Maren Montalbano, tenor John Riesen, soprano Ashley Marie Robillard, soprano Katrina Thurman, and ePOP Music Director and pianist, Aurelien Eulert. Release date is TBA in February 2022.

Live: On the evening of February 19th, 2022, we will have TWO back-to-back cabaret performances of Love Notes 2.0... Sour Notes with local artists at Society Hill Dance Academy. It’s an amazing space and we’re teaming up with a local vendor to have cocktails available. Proof of vaccination will be required. Artists for the live event include tenor Joshua Blue, mezzo-soprano Maren Montalbano, soprano Ashley Marie Robillard, soprano Katrina Thurman, pianist Aurelien Eulert, and drag queen and emcee extraordinaire, Maria TopCatt.

Repertoire performed will be from the opera, art song, and musical theater oeuvre. We are thrilled to bring #OperaUpFront to YOU and the whole ePOP audience whether virtual, live and in person, or BOTH!

Our funding comes from individual donors like you! A gift of any amount makes a huge difference to our independent, artist founded company.

Your donations will go straight to paying the artists first. We have 12 amazing performers as well as a graphic designer and a photographer that are lending their brilliance to bring these performances to life.

The Breakdown:
Artists Fees: $3,650
Graphic Design, PR & Marketing, Ticketing Fees: $750
Insurance for the Live Venue (got play it safe!): $200
Equipment: $200

Though we're a small company, we believe in doing our best to provide compensation for performing artists. Your support helps provide opportunities for our amazing artists.

Stretch Goal:
Although $4,800 will be an incredible help, we would be extremely grateful to reach for a goal of $6,000. An extra $1,200 would help reimburse our ticket share cost to rent the live venue space.

A gift of any size is amazing and we appreciate your help in spreading the word!

Thank you for being on this journey with us. We can't wait to share Love Notes 2.0... Sour Notes with you!

About East Passyunk Opera Project (ePOP):
ePOP is the brainchild of General & Artistic Director Katrina Thurman and her husband, Robert Hawkey. A big opera fan and an oft-seen supernumerary with Opera Philadelphia, Hawkey often mused with Thurman on how they might draw upon their connections to bring opera and classical music into the neighborhood. In December of 2019, they presented a packed concert at their home in East Passyunk, and ePOP was born.

ePOP’s mission is to expand community awareness and access to opera, musical theater, and art song by collaborating with high quality performing and visual artists to bring innovative, accessible, and free or low-cost performances to the Philadelphia region. Our goal is to make the art form approachable and never, ever “stuffy.” We also pledge to raise funding and awareness for organizations that make a positive impact on our community by choosing one organization per calendar year for which to advocate and lend our support.
