"sema" lives in the liminal space between living people and representations– between our flesh and our screens, our authentic selves and our selves in the presence of Another, between our morality and our pull towards conformity. Using adapted texts and newly devised scenarios, the artists create three distinct landscapes that confront the characters–and the audience–with some of the most haunting and intimate truths of our unrelentingly digital, decreasingly private reality. exit strategy will debut our piece in Amsterdam, NL in May. We believe that the topics of technological alienation and species loneliness will be resonant everywhere. Afterwards, we plan to bring "sema" back to the US. The artists believe that, given the current pace of the progression of the state of the American government and social order, the topics of observership, surveillance, and conformity will continue to resonate all–too-loudly to American ears, bodies, and minds. We hope that "sema" will render our audiences moved, unnerved, but – most importantly – awake to the reality around us.
