About

We are a group of four independent theatre artists fundraising to take our project, Failsafe, to Edinburgh Fringe 2025. We have been hard at work on this play with a New York run at The Tank this past December and are excited to be taking steps toward our UK debut this Summer! Here's the jist: Ivy and Jones are two deadbeat, dead-end 20-somethings are looking for a way out. Ivy has considered suicide the answer for her whole life but doesn’t want to die alone. Jones is cool with being dead, he just doesn’t want to die a virgin. So they help each other out. But 4 - going on 5 - tries in and they're still breathing, I guess sometimes the universe has other plans for you.
"Failsafe" at The Tank in NYC, Dec. 2024

Failsafe is a pitch black comedy about escaping your ugly, rotten, nasty, little life, finding a gun, and finally pulling the trigger. The funds raised will primarily be used for venue fees and housing costs for our month-long run in Edinburgh, as well as fees for our production team and travel costs.

What Does My Gift Go Towards?

Our goal is to raise $20,000! The breakdown of this number is as follows:

  1. Production Company

We have contracted with the incredible Scotland-based production company “Rhymes With Purple” for our Edinburgh run. They do all sorts of amazing things for us like: helping to secure a venue, helping to find accommodations and flights, securing us press and bookers to attend the show, organizing postering and marketing throughout the city, and much more. The fees for their services total £5,000.

2.Venue

With Rhymes With Purple’s help, we have secured a gorgeous venue for our month-long run at the Fringe. Dovecot Studios is its name and the cost to rent the space for a full run is £4,500.

3. Accommodations

The Fringe festival has been running since 1947 and you can bet your bottom dollar that the cost of housing has risen since then. We are currently working to secure a place to crash, but our estimates for the four of us staying in Edinburgh for an entire month is looking like somewhere between £6,000 and £8,000.

4. Contingency

When fundraising you always want to build in a contingency! It is some extra padding to be used in case of emergency or unforeseen costs. But even more importantly for our case, it is to cover the cost of a conversion rate! All of our USD must become GBP and with today's conversion rate, that means the £15,000+ accounted for above will become upwards of $20,000! And that’s our math! Thanks for reading!
