The purpose of the Emerging Directors Program is to provide a learning environment for New Orleans-area emerging theatre directors to improve their craft through practical application and guidance by mentor directors. This is a manifestation of Fat Squirrel's commitment to provide  opportunities for theatre artists to practice and refine their craft.

Meet the program participants!

Elise Bourg (they/she/he) is a New Orleans native and recent graduate of Loyola University New Orleans. Their Loyola credits include: Senior Project: Still by Jenn Silverman (Director), Everybody (Assistant Director), 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Vice Principal Panch), Comedy of Errors (Stage Manager). Additional professional stage management/ASM credits include: New Orleans Opera Association (La Boheme, Hansel and Gretel), JPAS (Steel Magnolias), Tulane Summer Lyric (Bandstand/Rent/Into the Woods), and Queer New Theatre (You Really Suck). They would like to thank Fat Squirrel NOLA for this opportunity and their mentor, Beau Bratcher, for their incredible and cherished guidance. Additionally they send love to their partner, family, and chosen family for their continued support.

Maverick Schmit is a New Orleans based playwright holding an MFA in Theater from the University of Idaho. He’s thrilled to be making his directing debut and grateful to Fat Squirrel for the opportunity to bring this special show to life with such special people.
