FRONTIERS OF THE MIND: THE 100 YEAR PROJECT - A Documentary Film

Inspired by the Dalai Lama’s groundbreaking vision of a world where Buddhist tradition and modern science intersect, young Tibetan monks and nuns travel to the US and around the world to explore a new frontier of the mind where true mindfulness meets neuroscience.

Thanks to a few generous Angel donors, we have a challenge on our hands!
If we raise $15,000 by the end of July they will match any donation dollar for dollar. They want to see this project soar and we hope you do too!

YOUR GIFT will:
  • Make it possible for our team to capture a monumental moment in India where the film’s primary subjects Ani Choyang, Geshe Sangpo,  Geshe Thabke, and Dr. Nusslock will present the fruits of the program and their research at the Dalai Lama’s Library in India.
    • This includes the plane ticket, camera rental, Tibetan director of photography and sound engineer’s fees.
  • To secure a top rate editor/collaborator to help take our film to the next level and bring it to you!

*All donations are tax-deductible*

WHO WE ARE

Our Documentary Team of seasoned story-tellers, helmed by Park Krausen, includes several talented young female filmmakers mentored by award-winning documentarian Brent E. Huffman. The team has been working closely with the subjects: ETSI, Dr. Nusslock, Dr. Paller, Dr. Grabowecky, Dr. S.Gabriela Torres-Platas and 4 Tibetan Monastic scholars, to share a unique story with the world. The subjects have become like family: both the Tibetan monastic scientists and the Scientists from American Universities.  It is part of the Indo-Tibetan tradition to embrace everyone they meet equally and we firmly maintain this attitude of fellowship and compassion in our filmmaking approach.

Detailed bios can be found here: Frontiers of the Mind_ The 100 Year Project Bios

This film intimately follows a small cohort of young Tibetan monastic scholars as they bring the Dalai Lama’s vision of scientific, cultural, and humanist exchange to neuroscience labs in the U.S. and beyond; thanks to the Emory Tibet Science Initiative as well as many scientists and lay people.

OUR PROGRESS SO FAR
In the fall of 2022, we were permitted to film the research training program the week it began. So with no time to raise funds, but with the support of Executive Producer and mentor Brent E. Huffman, who loaned us a camera and shotgun microphone, we began our journey to capture the Research Training program at Northwestern. The filming has taken us to India three times, New York City, Garrison Institute and Emory University. To date, we have over 500 hours of footage and look forward to beginning editing.

In July 2025, we plan to offer the trailer of Frontiers of the Mind:  The 100 Year Project to the 14th Dalai Lama in honor of his 90th birthday –  an archival piece of his living legacy.

With your help, we are very excited to start the next phase of our journey!
