Ghost Listing follows a young widow grappling with her sanity as she attempts to sell her home that may or may not be haunted.
On the surface, it is a contained psychological thriller, complete with creaky floors and flickering shadows. But underneath, this short is a poignant story about the lasting effects of domestic violence - how a controlling relationship can long outlast the person who created it, leaving a survivor trapped long after she's technically free.
Director, Rose Beth Johnson-Brown, and writer, Remy Solomon, first conceived of this story two years ago upon both moving back to their hometown of Los Angeles where they attended high school together. After over a year of development, Ghost Listing is finally ready to come to life.
thorn.jpg170.75 KB WHY NOW
Domestic violence affects 1 in 4 women in their lifetime, and while headlines and statistics are important for raising awareness, they rarely capture the full picture of the human lives behind them. That is what this short film seeks to accomplish, wrapped in a fast-moving high octane eight minute horror flick. Supporting this project means putting that story in front of the people who need it most - and supporting the all-female team of filmmakers (a rarity!) bringing it to life.
The team is assembled, the cast is in place, and we are one month from shooting.

WHO WE ARE
We believe the stories we tell are only as strong as the team telling them. The team is all-female and deeply credentialed. And with Remy's social following of over 100k across Instagram and TikTok, Ghost Listing already has an audience waiting for it. Rose*.jpeg973.22 KB

OUR ASK
In order to bring this film, we have to raise $30,000 in 15 days. This money will go directly toward our small but mighty production, specifically to paying our cast and crew.
While we have already secured $20,000 in initial funding, we need help getting the rest of the way there. As young independent filmmakers making original work outside the studio system, we must rely on the support of our community, patrons like you. Art history wouldn't exist without patronage!
See below for a breakdown of how your contribution will be used. Budget Goal.jpg93.08 KB
IN CONCLUSION
The film industry is mired in mergers, IP, and reboots. Original work - especially female-led, thematically ambitious original work - is increasingly hard to get off the ground. We are doing it anyway.
What we have on our side: a script refined over a year, a writer with 100k+ followers and a built-in audience, a producer with premieres at the world's top festivals, and a director who has done this before. We know how to get a project like this to the finish line.
Your support doesn't just fund a film, it helps a team of talented, early-career women get a foothold in the industry. We're grateful for your consideration and would love for you to be part of this.
