Gideon Theatricals is a theatrical production company founded by Jonah Baum, centered around the development and furthering of new works of dramatic literature from living American writers. Gideon Theatricals believes thoroughly in theater’s ability to shape a more utopic vision for the future; through providing artists the time and space to develop their work, we enable theatrical experiences that move, change, and thrill audience members.
Over the past year, at the University of Michigan, Gideon Theatricals has produced three projects:
- We Shall Be Monsters - April Lavalle, Dir. Andrew Barth Feldman
- KEVIN - Ben Diskant, Dir. Michael Herwitz
- Other People's Dead Dads - Jacob Wasson, Dir. Gonzalo Delgado
Gideon Theatricals has received the $10,000 EXCEL Prize Grant from the University of Michigan to fund operations over the next year, which is the first step towards funding a full slate of shows. This brings Gideon Theatricals halfway to its total funding goal for the coming season.
Developing theater is an expensive endeavor, and this upcoming season has a total budget of $20,000. Over the next year, Gideon Theatricals is planning to produce a season of five developmental workshops for new plays and musicals, and we cannot do this without your support.
With your tax-deductible donation to Gideon Theatricals's upcoming season, you will enable travel and housing for professional playwrights, composers, and directors, along with providing invaluable support for student artists developing their craft by working on these shows with professional artists.
Thank you for your consideration, and we hope to see you at the theater soon!
