Goldilocks is a 16mm mixed-media animated film set in 1989 that tells the story of two siblings who learn what they mean to each other when one follows the other unseen into the wilderness.
. Goldilocksis a 16mm mixed-media animated film set in 1989. The animation in the film represents the imagination and world-view of our protagonist, Ramona, an empath who's love of nature and those around her manifests as an animated layer on a deteriorating world.
.Two close siblings, Ramona and Lenny, struggle to connect for the first time as they come-of-age upon the sudden absence of their dad. When a mountain lion nicknamed Goldilocks is spotted mysteriously roaming their Northeastern town, it seems quite the tall tale. But when their neighbor's cow is found eaten at the edge of his property, its elusive presence generates fear. Mesmerized by its power, Ramona seeks to understand the creature’s arrival while Lenny secretly yearns to destroy it. But when Ramona follows him unseen into the wilderness, they both learn what they mean to each other.
. To make the strongest version of the film we need to raise at least 20K. To adjust to the current crisis, we will be splitting our production dates over two weekends.

Goldilocks is written & directed by an underrepresented female director, features a gender-fluid protagonist lead and subverts masculinity on screen. The story’s undercurrent drives themes of environmentalism and anti-cruelty towards sentient beings and the people that make up our world as connected to respect of nature. Set in 1989, the film also explores our world on the precipice of the technology boom and cautions the danger of non-connectedness. We're not only making a film but working to shift the cultural landscape of cinema through the film's essence.
