Founded in Manhattan's most vibrant neighborhood, Harlem Dance Club offers workshops with top teaching artists, performance opportunities and dance lifestyle for everybody. We are a hub where a multigenerational community can express their personal relationship with dance and have that relationship nurtured in a safe and inclusive environment, free of judgement. While our programming is open to all ages and skill levels, it is the professional guest artists we bring to Harlem that heighten the integrity and authenticity of the Harlem Dance Club experience.
Your donation to Harlem Dance Club makes possible:
FREE Guest Artist Workshops - These all-level public workshops introduce you to some of the finest teaching artists in a welcome setting. Past teaching artists include: Robin Dunn, Cesar Valentino, Angel Kaba, Kim Holmes and Chrybaby Cozie.
In 2019, all six of our Guest Artist Workshops held in collaboration with AfroDanceNY were at capacity, with over 300 community members participating and new faces coming in the door weekly.
FREE Performance Opportunities - We create a truly original blend of artists and professionals who are united by their journey in the dance.
This past year, we offered two FREE Performance Workshops - AfroDance and Praise - that culminated in performances at our annual MOTHERSHIP Festival. The entire Richard Rodgers Amphitheater in Marcus Garvey Park became a FREE cross-genre celebration of music, dance and community with the workshop participants at the center.
