Spring is a season of growth, and at Hit The Lights! Co., our stories are getting ready to bloom.
We’re entering a thrilling new chapter: preparing for a world premiere (more about that soon!), expanding our community partnerships, and continuing to create the bold, handmade theater that lights up your imaginations. But like any garden, none of it grows on its own.
💡 Why Your Support Matters Now
At a time when funding for the arts is increasingly precarious, supporting ambitious new works like ISLA is more important, and more challenging, than ever. As we enter our 12th year as a company we’re constantly working toward sustainability, and every contribution helps us keep moving forward.
Your support doesn’t just fund productions—it keeps our community programs like Queens Artist Connection thriving. QAC brings together independent artists across disciplines to share resources, support, and visibility in Queens and beyond. With your help, we can continue to create space for connection, collaboration, and joy.
🎨 What’s Blooming Right Now
Right now, we’re deep in development with our longtime partner, the New York Botanical Garden, for our sixth year of collaboration—this time for their Vincent Van Gogh exhibition and Starry Nights series. HTL! will be presenting Living Portraits: The Night Muse, a new immersive performance inspired by Van Gogh’s work. Projects like this are only possible through the continued support of our community.
We’re also developing ISLA, our bilingual shadow musical inspired by the Cuban Freedom Flights, and a Jim Henson Foundation Production Grantee. As we search for our premiere venue space, we are also preparing workshops and residencies with schools and community partners across the city exploring the themes inISLA.
And through our community initiative Queens Artist Connection, a growing platform that brings together independent artists across disciplines in Queens, we’re building space for deeper collaboration and visibility. We have an instagram (@queensartistconnection)!This spring, we received support from Flushing Town Hall’s Go Queens Grant, which is helping us grow the next chapter of QAC. We’re currently planning a summer “sip” meetup in July, and prepping for our next community event this fall.
