Introducing Home’s Kitchen a new play by Maeve Aurora Chapman, developed for international licensing by Broadway DNA, premiering in New Orleans June 2024.

ABOUT THE PLAY:
Home's Kitchen follows the seemingly separate lives of Marianne Rose, a young and disillusioned obituary writer, and Richard Davenport, a TV celebrity chef who seemingly has it all. When Mari's parents divorce in her last semester of college, she throws her career, her love life, and her relationship with her dad away. Richard, a gay man raised under a Catholic mindset, must learn to accept himself in order to save his crumbling relationships to love, career, and family. Home's Kitchen is a story of home, passion, and food for the soul.

🌎 “Home’s Kitchen” is being developed as part of international producing and licensing agency Broadway DNA’s innovative new play pipeline model aimed at connecting new plays (and the artists who help shape them) to prosperous “post premiere” life. The play will premiere in New Orleans followed by a separate production in New York and international licensed productions around the world. 🌎

Five performances will run Thursday through Sunday, June 6-9, 2024 at NOCCA’s Nims Blackbox Theatre.

UPCOMING PLANS for our world premiere

  • LOCAL RESTAURANT COLLABORATIONS 🧑‍🍳
During our rehearsal process, we will be engaging with established restaurants and local culinary experts for potential cast workshops and on-stage sponsorship opportunities to ground the work of our cast in community.
  • LOCAL COMMUNITY OUTREACH 🤝
We plan to expand our community outside of the rehearsal room and into new spaces with show-centric partnerships, particularly working with LGBT, HIV/AIDS, and under-served and under-represented organizations to provide community service and ticket exchanges.
  • INCLUSIVE DESIGN 💡
Featuring experimental "creative captioning" integrated in the set, this design concept will provide artists & audiences with a new way to engage in language and hearing accessible performance.
