ABOUT THE FUNDRAISER:
Although Hume's exhibition and community spaces have been busier than ever, this Winter’s been a tough one. Between the sub-zero Chicago temperatures bursting one of our bathroom pipes 😬, through-the-roof heating bills for our lovely (and drafty!) historic storefront, and difficulty finding new studiomates to move in during this post-holiday freeze, our 💰reserves are running real low.
Do you believe in Hume's mission of amplifying the voices of underrepresented emerging artists and holding space for community? Chip in to our mid-winter fundraiser to keep us cozy (aka keep the heat on 🔥) through the rest of the winter!
ABOUT HUME:
Hume Chicago is an all-volunteer-run project space on the border of Logan Square and Humboldt Park in Chicago, Illinois. Our mission is to create room for, provide resources to, and elevate emerging & traditionally underrepresented artists.
Since opening our doors in 2015, we have exhibited over 60 emerging artists in 40 exhibitions and held over 50 events of performance art, poetry, music, and community-based programming and workshops. We believe accessibility in the art world (and all worlds!) is extremely important, so we program all our exhibitions through open calls. We also focus on showing artists who do not yet have an extensive exhibition background. Our FIRST SOLO series allows selected artists to get that first solo exhibition on their CV—a crucial step toward a stable and successful art career.
So: do you believe in what we do? Donate your $$, and please: spread the word!
