Please consider donating to Insert Music Here's newest performance series/commissioning project, SILENT WOOD, DEEP RIVER! Our mission with this program is to share undiscovered and underperformed musical gems with the Southern California area, as a way for audiences to reconnect with nature and experience diverse storytelling from across the world.
Contributions will go towards helping us cover venue rental fees, transportation costs, artist/composer fees, and all the other small things that go into making live music magical, as IMH travels to different SoCal locations this September, presenting the first performances of this program.

Check out our website to see where we will be performing and to reserve your tickets!

We greatly appreciate any amount that you can contribute to this campaign and hope you will enjoy some of the amazing reward items that we have available (many of them are handcrafted by the Insert Music Here team!) To help us spread the word, please share this campaign on your socials, with friends & family, and tag us @insert_music_here and #silentwooddeepriver.

A BIT ABOUT INSERT MUSIC HERE:
Our mission is to share music both in scenic, natural settings and in the concert hall: to inspire, educate, and bring joy to diverse audiences across California and beyond. In doing this, we strive to bring awareness and action to the arts and environmental initiatives through music. To get an idea of some of our past projects, check out our last music video at the top of this page, featuring cellist Annie Jacobs-Perkins performing in Death Valley!
Insert Music Here's custom stage and piano in the Joshua Tree desert.
Using our solar-powered hybrid grand piano, custom hand-built stage, and converted cargo van, we are able to bring great music to remote locations that are otherwise inaccessible to piano music. When not traveling to remote locations, Insert Music Here also presents concerts in some of Southern California's most beautiful halls.

OUR INSPIRATION FOR THE SILENT WOOD, DEEP RIVER PROJECT:
Cellist Annie Jacobs-Perkins and pianist Katelyn Vahala, long-time duo partners, nature lovers, backpacking buddies, and members of Insert Music Here, wanted to create a program in which they could not only explore music not often heard in typical concert halls, but also in which they could engage with and share musical storytelling related to the natural world. In addition to performing and sharing this program throughout California, Annie and Katelyn's dream is to be able to someday down the road record the Silent Wood, Deep River music as their duo's first album.

ABOUT THE MUSIC:
As Gabriel Fauré wrote, "The desire for non-existent things, perhaps; this is the realm of music." SILENT WOOD, DEEP RIVER is a cello and piano program that weaves together diverse cultural and musical perspectives on humans' relationship to nature. Insert Music Here hopes to provide both our musicians and audience members opportunities to openly reflect on the past and dream for the future of our natural world through performances of this program.
From Dvořák's beloved homage to the Bohemian forest, to Gabriela Lena Frank's musical portrait of Arguedas's classic novel, to Faure's imaginative first cello sonata, to two new works written for Insert Music Here by Stratis Minakakis and Robert Alexander, we are so excited to bring SILENT WOOD, DEEP RIVER to audiences across California.
