September Update - Fireside FrightsHello wonderful donors! It’s Sibyl here, a producer on Fireside Frights. I hope you are enjoying the transition to the fall season! We certainly are excited here for things to get spookier. :) I’m writing this to let you know about the current updates concerning Fireside Frights fundraising, production, and distribution. FundraisingWe have a little over 20 days left in our crowdfunding campaign! Thank you all for your generous contributions. With your help we have raised over half of our funding goal, which has allowed us to complete the filming of two shorts, and begin filming and pre-production on two others to be featured in Fireside Frights. Below are some behind-the-scenes images from these days of filming: Short #1 - Werewolf Transforms Too Early! Our first short was set outside at night, and we spent several hours filming in an abandoned strip mall.  The "video village" for this short was set up in the trunk of a car. Pictured above is our lead actor, Matthew Perrotta, on the monitor.

About the Show
Fireside Frights is a horror-comedy anthology based on the children's television shows we loved as kids, like Goosebumps or Are You Afraid of the Dark?
It follows a group of children telling scary stories around a campfire, with each story devolving into an absurd sketch, each in their own unique world. Throughout the film you'll see a werewolf transforming prematurely, a group of girls summoning a sexy demon, and a household learning about the dangers of marijuana.
Several shorts have already wrapped filming, which will be compiled to create a feature film, currently planned to be finished by the Summer of 2027. It will then be submitted to festivals and seeking distribution.

Are You Afraid of Scary Stories To Tell in the Dark (That Will Give You GOOSEBUMPS?!)
Many shorts to be featured in Fireside Frights were first written for a show called Are You Afraid of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (that Will Give You Goosebumps?!) and were performed live for the Contemporary Theatre Company's 2024 Springboard season. Below are several images from the production.
Girls Night
One sketch featured in the live show was "Girls Night", about a group of girls gathering to have a sleepover and do other feminine things when they summon a powerful demon. A co-writer of the live show, Justin Peters, chose to adapt this sketch with the original writer, Sibyl Weber, as the senior thesis for his film/media B.F.A. at the University of Rhode Island. The result was the same chaotic, energetic, hilarity that you can expect to see from Fireside Frights.
About the Artists
Fireside Frights is produced by Kafka in a Dress, a collective of creatives dedicated to providing a space for newer artists to thrive and treating all involved with the respect they deserve. It was established in 2024 and has hosted several live performances, including The Fear is Becoming Normal in FringePVD 2025.
