Inertia | Movement Come to Life, is the final thesis performance of choreographer Dori Santarsiere in her pursuit of her Master of Fine Arts in Choreography. With a lifelong fascination with the work of theoretical physicists such as Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein, and the more recent work of Brian Green, Dori has always instinctually incorporated these concepts into her own dancing throughout her professional career as a concert dancer, and in her teaching techniques. Her choreography often reflects the shapes and patterns of nature, and gives a sense of the questions of the universe where these very concepts leave off.
Why is this project important?
Through her thesis work, Dori's goal is to bring both dance and physics to children and other audience members who may not typically be exposed to the teachings of math and science through the arts, or may not have experienced the joy of seeing a live dance performance. With your tax deductible donation, you can become a part of bringing these goals to life. This project will allow Dori to work towards one of her many goals of using the intersection of dance and physics to simplify yet enrich the physical demonstration of the laws of physics. Gone are the days of using stagnant cubes and spheres drawn on a page to demonstrate these concepts. The dancer's body, the music, and light fragments encompass all of Newton's Laws of Motion and complex concepts in a much more visually captivating way. This project will bring these concepts to audience members through the joy of dance.
What is Inertia and How Can I Become A Part it?
Newton's First Law of Motion is the Law of Inertia. The Law of Inertia states that an object at rest will stay at rest unless acted upon by an outside force. It only seems fitting that this first installment of the project is named for the outside physical force that will move this project forward. Please consider making a tax deductible donation, big or small, to help us to create a force that will push this dream into motion.
What will my donation be used for?
Your tax deductible donation will go directly to production costs such as rehearsal space, theater rental, lighting designers, production management, costumes, and of course the dancers! After all services with a set fee have been paid, any additional funds will be paid to the dancers in addition to their original compensation offer.
