LOVESEAT is an independent film and nonlinear romantic drama exploring love, memory, emotional health, grief, and dependency. The story follows James, a young photographer reconstructing the relationship that changed him, and Elizabeth, a woman rebuilding her life after a suicide attempt. Through James's fragmented recollections, the film explores how memory reshapes our understanding of relationships and asks what it means to love someone without conflating love with responsibility for another person's healing.

The project is currently in active pre-production, with the creative team developing the production plan, securing locations, assembling cast and crew, refining the film's visual approach, and preparing for principal photography. Rooted in lived experiences, LOVESEAT seeks to approach emotional health and complicated relationships with nuance, compassion, and honesty rather than judgment or sensationalism. Combining expressive visual storytelling with a nonlinear narrative structure, the film examines how intimacy, loss, and identity evolve—and how we carry both love and grief long after a relationship has ended.

Funds raised will directly support production and post-production, including locations, equipment, production design, wardrobe, transportation, meals for cast and crew, editing, sound design, color, music licensing, accessibility materials, and festival submissions. Upon completion, LOVESEAT will be submitted to regional, national, and international film festivals while pursuing community screenings and other public exhibition opportunities, allowing us to bring the film back to the communities that helped make it possible.

Producer Iyeh Malekpour is a first-generation Iranian American filmmaker, Film2Future alum, and summa cum laude graduate of California State University, Northridge. She currently works as a Development Assistant at Lea Pictures and has hands-on experience producing and financing independent narrative work on her own time, including her senior showcase-winning thesis film, Little Blessings, which she independently financed and led through production. She brings that experience to LOVESEAT, helping build the resources and support necessary to bring the film from pre-production through completion.
