Here we are at the end of our sixth season! And so far, it has been an incredible ride!
Since we started with our amazing season, we have presented a wide variety of pieces. But these are not just pieces: we have promoted three contemporary composers by performing their works - one through our annual call for scores - featured two soloists, started a brand new series of educational concerts, and amplified the voices of the LGBTQ+ community - through our latest performance, and planning a pride concert for next June.
Because our concerts are free, our audiences include college students and members of our community that otherwise would not be able to experience this high level of classical music. We don’t only hire professional musicians, but college students intern with us (paid!) as orchestra members, videographers, lighting design, and stage hands (to name a few), gaining experience that is valuable in their education.
Our two competitions - one for composers and one for your performers - give the chance to up-and-coming artists to further their careers, and Lowell audiences are treated to superb international artists - previous winners hail from Canada, the UK, and Israel, for example!
But we cannot do all of this without your help! And we most definitely need it now!
Please consider helping us reach our mark of $10,000 by the end of this year. It would be a tremendous help to the security of our future, which includes more commissions, an ongoing recording, and a larger reach into our community. It is possible to achieve this goal: donate what you can, and ask your friends to do the same - if 100 people (our average attendance) donate $25 (an average ticket price), we would be already be a fourth of the way to our goal. So please, consider donating as much as possible this holiday season - and if your company would like to help, we also have some nice sponsorship packets! Audience engagement is a primordial part of the Lowell Chamber Orchestra. Pictured here is a lecture presentation on the musical legacy of Edgard Varèse
Our critically acclaimed album has promoted the work of two living composers worldwide, as they reinvent an old composition style. Click here to learn more!
