Man's Best Friend is a film about Milo and Robin, a young married couple, and their dog.

One day, the dog runs away and comes back shortly as a person in a dog costume. This change, only Milo notices. The film doesn't explain this. What follows is played straightforward and deadpan. Is Milo is jealous of the dog or is his marriage  in crisis? Are both things true at the same time?

The film doesn't resolve the tension so much as hold it there. Something in the Kristoffer Borgli tradition, absurdist premises with no winking, but with the kind of warmth for its characters that Joachim Trier tends to bring even when people are behaving badly.

We're shooting this summer in upstate New York. Small crew, short window. Aiming for the 2027 festival circuit.
