ABOUT NEW CIRCLE THEATRE COMPANY

Nestled among some of the oldest Broadway theaters in Times Square, lies a hidden gem of theatrical innovation. This crucible of creativity is New Circle Theatre Company, the descendant of Circle Rep Lab. Over the past eight years, with the help of a handful of generous donors and a company of devoted theatre artists, we’ve dedicated ourselves to our mission: developing bold, new plays.

We do this through our Monday reading series, our script-focused workshops, and our “Sandbox Productions,” where writers, directors and cast work throughout the process to further craft the play. Our “7 OVER 7” Project, short play festivals, and other seminars provide additional opportunities for our playwrights to write from a prompt or within specific parameters.

NEW CIRCLE’S UNIQUE INITIATIVES HAVE GENERATED SOME EXCELLENT NEW PLAYS - AND WE AREN’T THE ONLY ONES WHO THINK SO!

Since 2017, more than 50 plays and dozens of monologues developed by New Circle have been published, and many have gone on to be produced by other companies, with hundreds of productions throughout the U.S. and Europe, and as far as Singapore and Australia.

PLAYS DEVELOPED AT NEW CIRCLE HAVE A LOCAL AND GLOBAL REACH

We’ve had a hand in incubating plays subsequently produced Off-Broadway, including David Arrow’s “Kennedy: Bobby’s Last Crusade, Arlene Hutton‘s “According to the Chorus,” and her upcoming “Blood of the Lamb,” which won multiple critical accolades at the International Fringe Festivals, including Edinburgh, Scotland and Adelaide, Australia.
