NikoFrank Productions was established by Spiro Marcos and Maggie Politi in February 2017. We specialize in producing professional comedic short films with the definitive goal of hiring ethnically diverse actors & women in New York City. In just under one year, We've produced 8 comedic short films & written 38 roles for women. NikoFrank Productions has received NY press from Broadwayworld.com, Playbill, Socialfly Live, and several NYC entertainment based blogs including "ArturSays". Our work have been official selections in over 13 festivals nationwide as well as featured on comedy websites such as Funny or Die and College Humor with over 35K views on our YouTube Channel: youtube
For our second year, we're excited to announce the initiative "Ladies in Action". For this project, we aim to produce 5 short films all written, directed, and starring WOMEN. Comedy in the U.S. has been primarily male dominated with only 37% of women in leading roles in 2016. For the past decade, NBC has only hired white male writers on staff and no females for shows like SNL. We are motivated to make a change to support the rise of female voices in the film & comedy industry.
Our budget goal not only reflects the ability to financially compensate the cast & crew with proper wages but also ensures that we continue to produce high quality videos. Your donations will help fund; shoot locations, meals for the cast and crew, professional hair & make up, an assistant, transportation, and marketing, as well as hiring a professional crew both on set and for post production.
We are even accepting submissions! In an effort to collaborate with women outside their immediate circle, we're seeking submissions & scripts from female writers and women in every aspect of the filmmaking industry; including directors, actors, sound technicians, & musicians. It's very important in today's political climate to stand for equal pay and equal opportunity for women. But it's even more essential for men to be standing beside us. We are honored to be a vehicle for creative women, to share their voices, lend their humor, and change the narrative.
This project will not only showcase the work of women, but leave them feeling empowered and eager to continue creating.
