Have you ever wondered what happens when TV's sarcastic, but supportive Fat Friend gets her own show?
Well... we are about to find out. NONGENUE's UK premiere is set for August 16-27 at The La Belle Angele in Edinburgh, Scotland in association with Just The Tonic. We are raising money to cover the cost of the venue, Fringe registration fees, round trip travel for our team, accommodations and marketing.

NONGENUE is a solo show written and performed by actor, writer, comedian Nikki Lowe. It tells the story of the actress in that show. No, not the lead actress... the other one. With elements of standup comedy, storytelling and burlesque, NONGENUE bares it all. An often vulnerable explorations of the characters we create for ourselves, the women who shaped us, and what our bodies actually have to say about our worth; Nongenue challenges society's conception of beauty while stripping away the armored costumes, caricatures, and judgements designed to keep women small.

Winner of Best Comedy at the 2021 Down to Clown Festival
& Best Solo Show at Sour Grapes Productions' Madonna/ Whore Feminist Theater Festival

Nikki Lowe is an actor and comedian in New York City. She recently went viral as the "Angry Karen" in a satirical promo for the band, The Black Keys: https://www.tiktok.com/@theblackkeys/video/7073958771185454382?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc&web_id=7082820164886742571
After almost a million views on Tik Tok, and a stint on the front page of Reddit, Nikki has experienced first hand the ire and fear that floods the comment section when women in larger bodies take up space. She's decided to keep doing it.

A Personal Message From Nikki:
NONGENUE is the culmination of my years doing open mic's, bar shows, improv training programs and Burlesque classes throughout NYC. She's the truest, funniest, most vulnerable thing I've ever written and I am honored that I get to share this experience with you. Your support is more than just a monetary contribution. It is a big, fat resounding "YES" in an industry full of "NOs". From my heart to yours, thank you for saying yes to NONGENUE.

All donations will go towards:
  • Festival Fees
  • Air Travel for two
  • Transportation
  • Two Weeks Accommodation in Edinburgh
  • Venue Rental
  • Flyers & Posters
  • Costumes (these tassels don't twirl themselves)
  • Venue Technician Fees
  • Props & Set Construction
  • Not Starving in Scotland

Any remaining funds will be used to help Nongenue in the next chapter of her journey. We plan to perform in as many festivals as will have us, in the hopes that the more we do it, the more people will see it, and the more commonplace it will become to see larger bodies in leading roles. So that we may all be brave and kind enough to reconcile fat and beautiful in the same package.
