SUMMARY STATEMENT
For the first time in 2 years, we turn to our loyal community to help fund our most ambitious series yet. Our goal is to raise $15,000 from individual sponsors like YOU in order to build the strongest foundation for our artists and community alike! These funds will be specifically used to improve our rehearsal and performance space at St. John’s Church, fuel the next phase of our Plays in Progress™ programming & pay our artists a fair wage for the work they do.
Together, we can build a future that allows us to reach even higher for Series 4 and beyond. Whether it’s $5 dollars a month or $1000 now, every bit helps keep our doors OPEN!
OUR MISSION
Open Theatre Project was formed to transform lives and build thriving communities through high-quality theatrical experiences. We are dedicated to providing artistic opportunities which allow the expression of diverse ideas to traditional and non-traditional audiences.
Our work is defined by the passion of individual artists in partnership with the culture of professionalism and collaboration we build around each of our creative endeavors.
We welcome all backgrounds, skill levels, and perspectives in order to broaden voices in theater with a particular focus on developing opportunities for women, people of color, LGBTQ and the elderly.
ABOUT SERIES 4
Series 4 is our most ambitious to date and all because of the support you’ve given us for the last 6 years here in Jamaica Plain and Greater Boston. Series 4 is focused on elevating the type of work that has gotten us to where we are today; inclusive, experimental, exciting and engaging.
This year we are so proud to present a line up that heightens our mission, provides even more opportunities to artists all over Boston, and aims at inviting many new faces into our home. With that, here’s what we have in store for you!

DIDN’T YOU MEAN SEASON?
Nope! We don’t do the traditional Theatre Seasons here at OTP and that’s because our world and community is ever changing. Sometimes a Series lasts 8 months, sometimes 2 years, and we like to keep it that way. This flexibility lets our themes evolve, keeps our audience engaged, and allows us to seize opportunities that come up quickly. Don’t worry though, we always have a LOT planned, just means a few surprises may pop up before we’re done and if you have an idea, we ALWAYS love to hear them!
WHY WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT
For the past 2 years, we have leaned heavily on local sponsorship, advertising and board contributions to fund our programming and frankly, it’s not nearly as fun as having YOU, our loyal community help make our season happen. We still want to engage in important community and business partnerships, but as Alexander Hamilton once said: “When you have skin in the game, you stay in the game, but you don’t get a win unless you stay in the game.” So we want you to play with us!
By crowdfunding our initial capital campaign you’re in the foundation, you’re showing the world that theatre and the arts are important, and we’ll get to brag about you all year long!
THE FIRST $5000 WILL BE MATCHED!
To get things started, we are so happy to announce that we have $5000 in matching contributions from our Series 4 Sponsors. Thanks to the wonderful people at P&H Travel of West Bridgewater, MA and Smart Guy Productions of Quincy, MA the first $5000 of our capital campaign will be MATCHED making the first 5k dollars donated go twice as far. If we succeed with our capital campaign that means $20,000 to keep our doors open!
