The event
We are delighted to present the first in a series of authentic Baroque chamber music concerts in Baltimore. Our debut performance is scheduled for Monday November 16, 7:30 pm., at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church.
Our team and purpose
Opera Henriette, a Baltimore-based professional group of musicians seeking to introduce the public to the delights of early opera, presents the first in a new initiative for us, Baroque chamber music concerts. In this concert, we present a live performance of intimate Baroque musical gems. In such a performance, as well as an informal historical introduction, we believe there is a valuable experience of education as well as pure delight. Magical gatherings such as this one seek to take Baroque chamber music back to its origins by connecting audiences and performers in an intimate, beautiful space. We seek to capture that same spirit.
The program
features musical treasures of the Baroque by Buxtehude, Buffardin (attr.), Bach, and Telemann.
How you can help
All contributions will go directly to support the performers and expenses of the event. All of Opera Henriette’s performers are world-class level professionals, and we wish to support them at the level we feel they deserve for this demanding pursuit. Donations from members of the community make this possible. We are happy to recognize our donors with a listing in the performance programe (if received by Nov. 13).
The performers
The all-professional team of musicians includes harpsichordist and Opera Henriette founder and music director Ted Davis, who brings decades of experience as performer and conductor, and players who boast stellar résumés and perform on beautiful, unique instruments, (Asa Zimmerman, violin; Jonah Ahlers, flauto traverso; Riley Parks, viola da gamba). We are proud of this high-quality professional team, and look forward to sharing a unique musical experience for all in the community.
