ABOUT PARADICE PALASE
PARADICE PALASE is a curatorial project and an experiment in the strength of community-driven arts. Our current Brookyn-based space is a testament to the model that we hope to grow.

Our mission is to:

  • Develop alternative funding methods for the arts
  • Grow our artist and patron networks to further visibility and accessibility
  • Build relationships between artists and the public at large
Founded in 2017 by Lauren Elise Hirshfield and Kat Ryals, who both previously sought outlets for their curatorial efforts, PARADICE PALASE is the love child of DIY project spaces and extremist fantasy. We challenge our current cultural landscape by attempting to eliminate risk in arts labor.

ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN
PARADICE PALASE launches crowdfunding campaigns alongside full scale exhibitions. The purpose of each campaign is to generate funding for stipends for the participation of each artist in the exhibition. Artists regularly incur many expenses when they agree to exhibit in a show, such as framing, shipping, traveling, or taking off from work. For artists without representation, there is no guarantee that their work will sell during the exhibition, and for some artists, sales may be difficult or not possible due to the nature of their work.

For our campaign, we are looking to generate $1,500.00 which breaks down to (5) stipends in the amount of ($240.00) for five of the participating artists in the exhibition. The additional $300 is for campaign fees, shipping rewards, and exhibition related costs.

WHY SUPPORT?
Through our campaign, you can collect exclusive and/or limited edition artwork and merchandise. By collecting an artwork, you become a patron of the arts, even if it is on a small scale. Grant funding is limited for individual artists, and emerging and underrepresented artists are often unable to support themselves on artwork sales alone. Every contribution is a small investment that serves to support artists in continuing their work and growth as professionals.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
"Dimensions of Alterity" is centered around the grotesque / carnivalesque body. The show will focus on the early manifestations of grotesque art to the medieval notions of the carnivalesque body as a sociopolitical expression. Along with deepening the understanding of these more historic ideas, the works in the show explore the chimeric, the grotesque and abject as a fundamental human experience.

Artists participating in this group exhibition include Alex Patrick Dyck, Colin Radcliffe, Alisa Sikelianos-Carter, Luke Michael Todd, Katie Green, and Olivia Taylor.

The exhibition will run from Friday April 13th - Sunday April 29th, with an opening on Friday April 13 from 7-10pm and a closing on Sunday April 29th from 5-8pm.
