Summary
It’s Summer. 1518. And the people of Strasbourg are…comfortable in their sanctimonious society. But newcomers, the young Theodore Troffea, pursuing new business ventures, and his wife, Manon, challenge their social rules, especially after one hot July day, when Manon begins manically dancing in the streets with no indication that she will stop.

When others follow suit and bodies begin to fall, Manon’s new neighbors become her witch hunters overnight. As her humanity is brought into question, Manon is forced to reckon with the reason she began dancing in the first place.

Pas de Trois gives name and voice to the alleged initiator of the dancing plague of 1518, centering one woman’s powerful expression of grief.

Why we need your help
SheNYC gracefully provides us with free rehearsal space, a performance venue, access to Materials for the Arts, theater insurance, and other essentials to produce this show. However, in order to fully realize our vision, we are hoping that generous donors like yourself can support us in reaching our goal of raising $5500 to support us in:
  • Paying our cast and crew - the majority of our budget will go to our collaborators who are generously extending their time and energy to bring this performance to life. Our creative team is made up of mostly Black, female, and/or queer people, along with a majority Black and POC cast, identities of which often make less within theatre spaces in general. As young theatre artists, we believe paying our collaborators reflects a sense of seriousness and passion about the project, as well as shows the hope for longevity and investment in our own and others' careers.
  • Allocating costumes - This play is set in 1518, so the costumes will have a period element to them, while also existing "out of time". Though we will utilize what we can from people's closets, there are some key pieces that we will need to outsource to support the overall vision.
  • Additional set design needs - This play calls for a giant statue of Saint Vitus, so...there's that.
  • Rehearsal supplies - Printing scripts, binders, utensils, snacks and water
