This campaign exists to help bring my plays Perfect Teeth and Dick Pix to the stage at Theaterlab this summer, and specifically to compensate our artists in a manner befitting their time and talent.

Now, to be perfectly clear, this is indie theatre on a very tight budget, and no one is getting what counts as a "living wage" these days. BUT, it is my philosophy as a producer and theatre-maker that the bulk of our money should be spent on people, not things. I'd much rather have excellent actors than fancy sets. I'd much rather have insightful directors and committed designers than a pricey marketing package. The work on stage is the most important thing, if fact the only thing, that matters to me. Therefore, I'm investing in the best artists I can find, and paying them as much as I'm able for their time and talent.

With your gift in support of this project, you'll be helping our actors, directors, designers and staff to create indie theatre on a level that I hope will surprise and gratify you when you see these shows. In the unique white-box of Theaterlab, you'll watch each of these plays transform the space and you'll sit in the audience, only a few feet away from the actors, knowing that your contribution directly enabled these artists' participation in two modestly budgeted, yet fully realized, theatrical experiences.
