Problem Play is a new work by Hannah Blau and directed by Rashaad A. Bond. It is both a reimagining and a reframing of Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure.
It expands, challenges, and redefines the #MeToo movement by asking its characters tough questions about consent and forgiveness. Set in a high school in Alabama, the play centers around a group of high school students as they rehearse their school production of Measure for Measure and try to learn about sex, adulthood, and doing the right thing.
First conceived in 2019, Problem Play received a reading at Chicago storefront, The Artistic Home, in 2022. It will debut as a full-scale production this September! The production will open at The Color Club and run from September 11-27.
The show features:
Miranda Taylor as Regan
Emiliano Flores as Ezra
Kyle Johnson as Parker
Cailyn Murray as Connie
Benjamin Sanchez as Lorenzo
Jaime Nebeker as Virginia
Caleb Ryan Jones as Principal/Officer
