As we approach the end of the Jewish year and you consider to whom and how much you will give tzedakah, consider supporting the vital work of PROTOCOLS.
After another exciting and provocative year of publishing, we are asking for your support to continue our work in the year ahead. Working over the past year was not easy. Both the editorial team and our contributing writers and artists faced critical financial and public health challenges. But the evident craving for highly-curated, sophisticated, and creative Jewish writing and art motivated us to push forward and release two new issues.
PROTOCOLS remains one of only a very small number of publications offering high quality Jewish content with specific attention to progressive and leftist politics; and of these, it is the only Jewish cultural journal focused precisely at the intersections of politics and art. The pandemic’s economic costs have left the doors of many traditional venues closed as writers and artists struggle to find income and support. Additionally, political crises in Israel/Palestine have led to renewed and often increasingly hostile attempts to censor creative expression. As the world continues to transform, our mission remains vital.
An ambitious cultural mission requires a well-funded organizational infrastructure. We are a volunteer-run publication committed to compensating all of our writers and artists and providing free access for our readers. Additionally, after four years of publishing, we are in the process of making some much-needed design and user experience updates to our website, the platform for our publication.
Both contributor compensation and design work brings our annual budget close to $5000.
The Hebrew month of Elul, in preparation for Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, is a traditional time for reflection, return, and tzedakah (charitable giving). As we approach the end of the Jewish year and you consider to whom and how much you will give tzedakah, we ask you to consider making a donation to help fund PROTOCOLS through 5782.
