Learn more about the QTCresidency and this year's play...

The QTCresidency experience is bespoke in nature, and is molded to fit the needs of the playwright and their work. We work closely with the playwright to ensure that they have the resources, support, and connections they need to develop their piece, and take it to the next level after the residency process has concluded. The process includes one to one dramaturgical support, two developmental workshops, and a staged reading. The purpose of the residency is to offer a queer playwright the opportunity to find their voice. and create a new piece of theater that highlights authentic representation of the queer experience.

This year, we are supporting playwright Ben Locke in the development of their play, Remembrance, which explores Trans Day of Remembrance through both historical and contemporary lenses and asks questions about how we ideally honor, celebrate, and respect the deceased, and how we begin to heal from queer generational trauma.

At QTC, we value authentic representation of queerness and queer culture, and believe the best way to do that is by letting our community members reclaim the narrative around their identities and lived experience. Your support makes this possible. Thank you!

Your Donation Helps Us...
  • offer stipends and travel reimbursements to our creative team and cast
  • provide food for workshops and rehearsals
  • secure adequate workshop, rehearsal, and performance spaces
  • take care of any miscellaneous needs that come up during the process
All funds raised will directly support the success of the residency process as a whole.

We believe that all artists should be paid for their work, so our first priority is to be able to pay stipends to the creatives and performers working on the development of this show.
In addition to stipends, providing food at each workshop or rehearsal, and reimbursing for travel costs when needed (train fare, parking, rideshares, etc) are ways that we strive to break down barriers that may inhibit artists from being able to participate in this developmental process.

Timeline of this Year's Residency
  • January - August 2024: Writing & development of the piece, with personalized dramaturgical support
  • End of August/Early September 2024: First workshop
  • End of October/Early November 2024: Second workshop
  • End of November/Around Trans Day of Remembrance (11/20/24): Staged Reading

More about QTCboston:
QTC is a queer theatre collective that uplifts the voices of, and provides a platform for LGBTQ+ identifying individuals of all backgrounds and experiences within the creative community of the greater Boston area.
We are changing the future of the theater industry by exclusively programming new works by queer writers that tell stories which encourage audiences to shift their perspective on what it means to be an active and compassionate member of a community.
As we build this space together, we encourage and welcome the presence of individuals questioning their sexuality or gender, and our allies, so that we may collaborate together to celebrate the queer experience.
