Experience joy-in-motion at Rainbow Park Palooza: A Fundraiser for the Rainbow Dome on May 9, 2026. Rainbow Dome needs your support and connections to continue to fundraise for ongoing construction at the new space (a permanent home that will be a community venue for roller skating, entertainment, and art)!

Local queer-led collaboratives, Friends & Lovers and Sapphic Social Club have partnered with Rainbow Dome to bring together our community to fundraise to support the broader need–A place for social connection that validates the queer experience and fosters joy and silliness as coping mechanisms for mental health resiliency.

What is Rainbow Park Palooza?

Rainbow Park Palooza is a collaboration between Rainbow Dome, Friends & Lovers and Sapphic Social Club. Join us for an afternoon of nostalgic field day games and friendly competition. Come celebrate meeting new people and building community, while raising funds for Rainbow Dome’s future space. Twelve teams of four will compete in a series of games that whittle down to a winning team. Staged as a spectator event, the public is invited to cheer on and watch the games unfold. Accompanying the games is a resource & vendor fair, live DJ and MC, drag time story hour for kids and families, pay-to-play interactive carnival games, and food trucks.

Come to watch the games unfold, wander among the vendors and resource fair, purchase food or bring your own picnic, attend the drag time story hour, and pay-to-play in a selection of carnival and lawn games. Visit our event page to learn more

Team Fundraising

The highlight of the event is the Field Day Competition featuring 12 teams of four who will compete in nostalgic games of relay races, water balloon toss, and more!

Each team has been asked to fundraise for Rainbow Dome. Similar to giving circles, each team’s network and community is encouraged to support their favorite team and their donation will go towards Rainbow Dome’s capital campaign. In addition to the team that wins the competition, there will be two prizes:
  1. For the team with the most number of donors!
  2. For the team who raises the highest dollar amount in donations!

When you choose to donate, be sure to select your Team of Choice from the list of rewards, so your donation counts towards that team’s goal. You can donate the minimum donation level or go above and beyond to put your team over the top!

Why Donate to Rainbow Dome?

Rainbow Dome is an artist-led, queer-centric hub that formed out of a need for a social space for marginalized communities that centers joy and play as catalysts for authentic social connection. We are currently renovating 1660 N Federal Blvd to be our permanent home–a roller rink, arts venue, and community gathering space that invites our audience to be unapologetically themselves and be received as such. Located in Sun Valley, 1660 N Federal Blvd will be the only dedicated roller skating rink within the City of Denver.

We’ve raised 39% of our goal of $670k. Now, we need your help to cross the finish line. Your gift would directly support this final phase and help create a more connected, creative, and inclusive Denver.

These funds will support the inaugural art installation, theatrical audio/visual equipment, and modular seating and stage platforms. These elements are essential to our core programming, producing events that invite our audience to experience joy-in-motion:
  • Theatrical equipment to support the artistic practice of DJs, music, sound, film and performance artists, including vogue/kiki balls, experimental dance, and more.
  • Large-scale visual art installations that capture our audience's imagination and create a portal to another world. Funds would be used for materials and artist fees for local artists to contribute to the project.

Text reads with image representations: Skate Rental & Concessions Booth; Music Venue live music & DJ’s; Custom art curtain spanning the entire west wall helps with noise control, and can be adjusted in different ways; Mobile stage set can be set up anywhere in rink; Custom bench seating with cubbies for shoes; Patterned carpeting a nostalgic nod to the classic rink experience; Support beans covered in soft protective sculptures; Roller Rink; Hardwood maple floor perfect for skating and dancing on

Rainbow Dome fulfills the neighborhood’s request for more family-friendly recreational centers that are not alcohol-focused. The project fosters a positive community space, cultivating pride, social cohesion, and belonging, especially as Sun Valley experiences a significant influx of new residents with the opening of Denver Housing Authority developments and the eventual departure of the Broncos Stadium. Additionally, in a time of increased anti-trans hate and legislation, Colorado has become a sanctuary state for transgender individuals seeking gender-affirming care. Rainbow Dome offers a social sanctuary to experience joy-in-motion through human-centered events (such as roller skating, dance parties, and performances) and artwork to creatively world-build a future that is more playful and just. We center joy, because we believe it is a vital state of being that supports physical and mental health and increases our resiliency.

Impact

Since 2021, Rainbow Dome has been hosting pop-up installations and events throughout the Denver metro area. Rainbow Dome has been commissioned by Meow Wolf for a temporary art installation as part of their Vortex music festival and Adams County to co-host their annual Pride Festival. Throughout 2022, Rainbow Dome held a monthly zodiac-themed skate party at the Rollerdome, featuring artwork to represent each zodiac sign. We also host a pop-up roller rink with free skate rentals as part of the Sun Valley Night Market under the Colfax Viaduct. Rainbow Dome’s ongoing project, the Queer & Trans Ancestors Portrait series, consists of plush, acrylic portraits honoring and remembering our ancestors.
