Thinking of you all and sending my deepest thanks for your generous support and enthusiasm for Red Regatta! In a few days, Red Regatta will set sail as the opening event for the famous Regata Storica in Venice. It’s going to be such an amazing day and you helped make it possible! I’ll be sharing images and video soon after the event and I’ll do a live video during the actual regatta on instagram so follow along @melissamcgillstudio
Red Regatta sails between 12-5 pm Italian time.
A prestissimo e grazie infinite!

My heartfelt thanks to all who have already supported Red Regatta! Only 7 days left on this fundraising campaign and we really need your support!
My heartfelt thanks to all who have generously supported Red Regatta and helped to make it such a huge success- beyond our dreams!
Red Regatta is having a powerful and inspiring impact, uniting Venetians and visitors to raise awareness about the forces of climate change that threaten not only this beloved city but the world at large.
We have received an enormous amount of extraordinary press in print and online, with Red Regatta headlining coverage despite its independent status during the Venice Biennale. Our 250 Venetian collaborators have shown real passion for this project which has been a source of pride for them.
Despite unexpected bureaucratic delays that severely impacted our fundraising initiative, Red Regatta has continued to sail on as planned.
Our production team has been extremely patient about the delayed payments but now we must honor our commitments and close the funding gap immediately.
We have 7 days left in our fundraising campaign and your support is urgently needed to cover the remaining production costs.
We would appreciate your support at any level.
Thank you for your enthusiasm for Red Regatta and for believing in me and my work.
With much love and gratitude,
Melissa
Red Regatta is a non-profit independent public art project, presented in collaboration with Associazione Vela al Terzo, that unites Venetians and visitors to celebrate the cultural and maritime history of this iconic city to call attention to the forces of climate change and mass tourism that threaten its future.
My concern for the environment and my passion for art in public spaces is at the center of this project, along with a focus on how local actions can speak to international issues.
I'm writing now to ask you to help keep the wind in our sails!
I'm happy to let you know that Red Regatta's Preview in Venice on May 11 was a great success! Our next Red Regatta sets sail on June 30, 2019, followed by Red Regattas on September 1 and September 15.
Stated beautifully by one of my Venetian collaborating sailors: "I am very happy to participate in the project, also because I am convinced that Red Regatta contributes to triggering the necessary changes in people's consciences, to safeguard Venice and more generally our common home... the entire planet Earth! I can't wait to get back in the water with our beautiful red sails!"
But we truly need your support to move forward, as we still have outstanding production payments due now! All while we need to cover production expenses for the next three regattas.
Please consider supporting Red Regatta by making a tax-deductible donation and help us to keep sailing!
Red Regatta is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non‐profit arts service organization. Contributions for the charitable purposes for Red Regatta are tax‐deductible to the extent permitted by law.
Every donation helps and your support goes directly towards production expenses.
To express my thanks for your support, the following special Red Regatta limited editions listed here are available at various giving levels. All are available for shipment within the USA or Italy.
Thank you for your interest and consideration and please help us spread the word and share widely!
You are the wind in our sails!
My warmest regards, Melissa
